  1. Looking awesome so far dood, would watch were you place the figure on the card because you have set-up a scale in the background and the images need to reflect that constant view point.

  2. I'm hardcore diggin' the King of Spades. I do feel like some of the shading on these figures isn't really working, and kind of superfluous. It isn't lending to the form of the figure. I agree with Jason in that the overall scale seems compromised by your compositions, but like I said, the King of Spades is my favorite and he's huge in the frame. Consider tweaking the scale on some of these.

  3. Great work. The only issue that I can find is VERY,very minor. The suit icon and the card initial repeatedly placed in the same spot on each card, creates a 'template' driven card image. (Yes, I KNOW that's how cards are normally done. :-) But I would like to see maybe one giant heart (suit icon) near the center of each card, floating so that not all are in the same spot. Not sure? Would like to see one that way though.
I think you've done a good job of combining the gradients with vector artwork, which is kinda hard to do well. A. Perkins

  4. These are great! I noticed how some are more outlined than others, so I'd just carry that throughout. Also, the Jack of Spades and Diamonds may need some eyebrow/facial hair tweaking. Well, maybe not so much in the Diamonds, but the eyebrows in the Spades look super dark compared to his shaved head. Granted, eyebrows are always darker, but I'd make it slightly less black. Besides that, they look finished to me! I love them! You're so great at capturing facial expressions and detail.

    1. Also the Queen of Spades need some hair tweaking.
Other then that, nice rendering and facial expressions.
I can't wait to see the rest of the cards. :)

  5. These are looking good man. I think that the way you have handled the tattoos of your gangsters is pretty successful. One improvement I think that could help would be the repetition of some values from the heads to the body/torso of your figures. You handle the values well in the face and hair and I think it would only help to continue that attention to detail downward.

  6. I think a lot of this has really good form shadows, but what I would really like to see is a more consistent light source- the figures have good form shadows, but they might need more shadow that follows a light source. I think that could help with what Mim was saying about the shading being superfluous. However the drawings and facial details are incredible and really expressive, I think it looks great. You're moving at the speed of light on these, i definitely think you'll have no problem finishing them!

  7. Awesome work and theme. And I know this has been said before, but it would be nice if you render the clothing of the figures the same as their faces. I like the way you lighten the line on the king and jack of clubs' faces (was that intentional?). Maybe doing that for some of the other faces, just to tone down the black outline.
